Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle Review

When it comes to weight loss I have very keen and strict beliefs on what does and does not work.  I am of the belief that if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is.  There are many different companies and products out there that promise a "Genie in a bottle" solution when it comes to burning fat.  The bottom line is that you can't just poof your fat away.  The real secret to weight loss is not a magic pill that will undue years of bad eating habits in a weeks time.

Anyone who has done extensive reading on many of the different diet and nutrition books and articles out there will find Tom Venturo's "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" a breath of fresh air.  What made me willing to give Tom's book a try is that his website gave me the impression that he and I have very much the same core beliefs when it comes to losing weight.  What I am referring to is the belief that a successful weight loss program takes work.

Losing weight is not difficult but at the same time it is not easy either.  The problem with losing weight effectively is that you have to work for it and give up on the magic solutions (again my core belief).  The real problem is that you cannot be effective at losing weight if you do not know what you are doing (no matter how hard you work at it).

And that is where Tom comes in.  Tom excels at explaining how you should diet to lose weight.  I've worked hard at providing the information I know on this site but Tom takes the same information to another level.  The book goes into detail on  topics like:

  • Negative calorie foods - takes more calories to digest these foods then the amount of calories in the food itself.  Therefore eating these types of foods makes you burn calories.

  • Goal setting - don't over look this step it is the first and probably most important chapter in the book.  You can apply this chapter to all aspects of life (not just dieting)

  • Understanding you body composition and how to chart your progress - how do you know if you are making progress if you do not chart it correctly?

  • Understanding your body type - there is no one diet that fits everybody and once you understand your body you can map out a plan that will be successful to you.

  • Good fats vs bad fats, importance of water, weightraining

  • Etc, etc, etc...

Tom's book is a little under 300 pages and a very easy read.  Another thing that I like about Tom's book is that you do not have to be a nutritionist or biological chemist to understand what he is taking about.  Tom writes as if he was sitting down and having a conversation with you verses giving you a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo.

It is really no surprise why Tom has the number one book for his genre and I highly recommend this book to anyone that has struggled with weight loss in the past.  You do not have to be a bodybuilder to gain from the information on this site and Tom's book.  In closing I would like to state that my wife has struggled with weight loss her whole life and the pictures below are testimony on how anyone can turn things around (no matter how many times they failed in the past)

I think a picture is more than worth a thousand words in this case.  Click here for additional details  on Tom's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle.
